Mamata Banerjee demands rollback of Industrial Revolution

Move seen as pro worker and pro poor

Continuing her list of rollback demands, Mamata Banerjee today demanded that the Government rollback the Industrial Revolution and bring back the glory days of real labour. Speaking from her Writers Building Office, Ms. Banerjee, in her usual articulate style, said “The Industrial Revolution has unfairly allowed foreigners to outshine workers in Bengal using propaganda like productivity gains. We demand a level playing field for workers and this whole Industrial Revolution benefits only Walmart. We demand that the Government stop this and allow us to continue with a people’s revolution”.

Holding up a Charles Dickens novel, Ms. Banerjee went on to explain that she had read enough about workers’ conditions to know that the Industrial Revolution had forced young boys into becoming chimney sweeps. When one reporter inquired if she was in fact referring to the plot of Oliver Twist, she had him arrested on charges of being a Maoist.

Reacting to her demands, the Congress party’s spokesperson Mr. Manish Tiwari said that stopping all progress going forward was on the Government’s agenda, but rolling back a revolution from over 200 years ago was a stretch even for the Congress party. “Look, we have a great record of turning back the clock, but even we can’t manage to roll back 200 years of progress in such a short time.  We can consider it in our manifesto for the 2014 election.”  Sources from the Ministry of Law have however indicated that the Ministry is considering a retrospective amendment to declare the mechanization of production in the western world illegal.

In other news, in order to accommodate Indian cultural sensitivities, Master Chef has decided to allow its lone Indian contestant to bring her Maharaj to cook on her behalf while she yells at him.

Yes, government would not fall even if SP decides to withdraw support. They have the requisite number. If election is held tomorrow it is the SP who will get the maximum number of seats, not the BSP despite all the halla woo. So it is logical, Mayawati will not allow government to fall. Laloo is likely to claim railway in lieu of RJD support..
