In a move that the Governments critics have no opinion on, the
PMO announced that it had secured Cabinet clearance for a rollback schedule for
reform that will be announced over the remainder of its term.
Speaking outside his office, Additional Secretary to the PMO
VK Nair said “We are a pro-active Government. Mr. Raghuram Rajan joined us as
Chief Economic Advisor a week ago and submitted a list of reforms he though were
vital. We took the list to the cabinet
and got a roll back schedule clearance in advance. With a clear schedule for
rollback, passing laws should not be a problem at all.”
Spokespersons of the Government have stated that this move
heralds a new era in coalition politics.
Speaking to the press on the 13th
hole of the DLF Golf course, where he was caddying for an unnamed VIP with Z
category security, Manish Tiwari stated that to be able to achieve consensus on
such an important issue so early is perhaps the most significant achievement of
the Government.
On being questioned about implementing Raghuram Rajan’s
advice, Mr. Tiwari added ”we already know how Raghuram’s term is going to play
out. Just like Kaushik Basu before him,
he hasn’t been able to simplify his ideas and present them using hand drawn pictures
– a prerequisite for discussions in Congress committees. We are being proactive
and preparing the ground for lack of direction.”
In other news, the Republican National Convention has ended
with the adoption of the party’s new campaign slogan ‘Guns don’t kill people.
We do’.
